The film tells the story of Dante Alighieri, through the eyes of Giovanni Boccaccio, his most fervent admirer. In 1350, Boccaccio is tasked with delivering 10 gold florins to Sister Beatrice, Dante Alighieri's daughter, as compensation for the confiscation of her assets and the unjust sentence imposed on the great poet. Dante, who disappeared in 1321, spent the last 20 years of his life amidst difficulties and suffering, seeking refuge after being sentenced to the stake along with his sons, who later fled from Florence. Boccaccio's task, as a great admirer of the Florentine poet, is not only to deliver symbolic compensation but also to conduct an investigation into Dante to narrate his human story and the injustices he endured.
